The Journey: After an early breakfast at your hotel, we will drive to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park for park registration and team sorting. Because the lower slopes are highly populated with wild animals, an official armed park ranger will lead our crew. The trek starts across open savanna plains where you will stand surprisingly close to giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes. The trail then winds up through ancient montane forest, past the scenic Maio Waterfall and the giant Fig Tree Arch, before arriving at Miriakamba Hut for a warm dinner and your first night on the mountain.

Activity: Steep Climb to Saddle Hut & Early Midnight Summit Start

The Journey: You will wake up to a stunning mountain morning and begin climbing up a series of steep wooden steps through the heather and alpine moorland zone. This section, known as Elephant Ridge, offers spectacular views of the crater wall far below. You will reach Saddle Hut by lunchtime. Because this is a 3-day express itinerary, you will skip the standard daytime rest and instead use the afternoon to eat, pack your summit layers, and get as much sleep as possible. Your guides will wake you up around 11:30 PM with hot tea and snacks to prepare for the immediate midnight summit push.

The Experience: A monumental endurance challenge! Leaving Saddle Hut at midnight, you will climb steeply through loose volcanic gravel and scree up to Rhino Point (3,800m). From here, the trail becomes a thrilling, highly exposed scramble along a narrow rock knife-edge rim. Passing Cobra Point (4,350m), you will push through the thin freezing air to stand at Socialist Peak (4,562m)—the Summit of Mount Meru exactly as the sun breaks over Mount Kilimanjaro in the east. After celebrating on the Roof of Arusha, you will descend back to Saddle Hut for a quick hot lunch, pack your gear, and complete the long, steady march all the way down to Momella Gate. Your safari vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Arusha for a triumphant hot shower and celebration!

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel before our driver transfers you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home, or connects you directly to your scheduled wildlife safari or beach holiday in Zanzibar.
