Activity: Trekking through Pine Forests and Cultivation Zones

The Journey: After an early breakfast, you will drive through rural Chagga villages to the Nalemoru Gate (Rongai Gate). Following registration and meeting your crew, the trek begins. You will hike along a winding trail through beautiful pine forests and vegetable fields before entering the montane forest, where you might spot Colobus monkeys. The day ends at Simba Camp, offering vast views over the Kenyan plains.

Activity: Trekking through the Moorland and Heather Zones

Distance: 12 km | Time: 6–7 Hours

Altitudes: 2,625m to 3,600m

The Journey: The morning starts with a steady ascent through the heather and moorland zones. You will stop at the Second Cave (3,450m) for a hot, energizing lunch. After lunch, the trail turns towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi, crossing smaller ridges and valleys. The terrain becomes more rugged but incredibly scenic, ending at Kikelewa Camp nestled in a sheltered valley.

Activity: Alpine Desert Acclimatization Trek

Distance: 5 km | Time: 3–4 Hours

Altitudes: 3,600m to 4,315m

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | Stay: Mawenzi Tarn Hut

The Journey: This is a short but steep day designed perfectly for high-altitude acclimatization. You will leave Kikelewa Camp and hike up a grassy ridge, where the vegetation rapidly disappears into the stark, volcanic Alpine Desert. Your destination is the spectacular Mawenzi Tarn Hut, situated in a bowl directly beneath the towering rocky spires of Mawenzi Peak. Spend the afternoon resting or taking short acclimatization walks.

Activity: Crossing "The Saddle" (High Altitude Desert)

Distance: 8 km | Time: 5–6 Hours

Altitudes: 4,315m to 4,700m

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | Stay: Kibo Hut

The Journey: Today you will cross "The Saddle"—a vast, barren, and wind-swept alpine desert plateau that connects the two majestic peaks of Kilimanjaro: Mawenzi and Kibo. The trekking landscape is moon-like and surreal. You will walk at a slow, steady pace (pole pole) to conserve energy, reaching Kibo Hut by early afternoon. Here, you will have an early dinner and prepare your summit gear.

Activity: The Ultimate Summit Push & Long Descent

Distance: 6 km up / 9 km down | Time: 11–13 Hours

Altitudes: 4,700m to 5,895m (and down to 3,720m)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner | Stay: Horombo Hut

The Experience: The Big Day! Around midnight, you begin the summit push under a starry sky. You will trek up steep, loose volcanic scree switchbacks toward the crater rim. You will reach Gillman’s Point (5,685m) at sunrise, experiencing an unforgettable African dawn. After a short break, you trek along the snowy crater rim to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the Roof of Africa! After celebrating, you descend back to Kibo Hut for lunch, then continue down through the saddle to Horombo Hut.

• The Journey: Your final morning on the mountain begins with a joyful celebration and traditional songs from your crew. You will descend through the moorland and beautiful green rainforest toward the Marangu Gate. At the gate, you will sign out of the national park and receive your official gold certificates. Your private vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel for a long-awaited hot shower.

Departure Day: Farewell Tanzania

After a well-deserved rest and breakfast at your hotel, our driver will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home or your next safari destination.
